dont ask dont tell

I was a little confused about don't ask, don't tell when we started talking about it, but reading this article put it all in perspective for me. They asked a lot of good questions why  they shouldnt repeal and it did all make sense, however, i do not agree with the policy. It just discriminates against another type of people for no reason. I understand that there are reasons why it would be harder for gay people to enter the military, but i feel if it is a person who feels strongly about wanting to be a part of te military and help protect our country that should be all that matters. This person wants to put themselves on the line in order to help their country, it should not matter what their sexual orientation is just as it does not matter their racial orientation. I do know that it will be hard at first and things will be weird, but thats just how life is with change but we get use to it and we cant ever get use to this idea if we dont accept it and start it.

globalization

My thoughts of globalization were just that it was happening whether it be good or bad it is here and there isnt much we can do about it. After the first video we watched, i really thought about what the one man said abuot losing individuality and uniqueness, but i still feel that there isnt much we can do to change what is going on in our world, at least not yet.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about Americanization, I feel like it is a good thing that people are learning of things from our world and other worlds and applying them to each other, but i still feel like people may lose themselves when they do things like this. As long as they can keep these interests, but still have their own cultures and be themselves, i do not feel like it has to be a bad thing.

McDonaldization is basically a term to let people understand how fast food restaurants are dominating american society and the world. There are McDonalds and other types of fast food places everywhere from here to Africa to China. The reason this is not good is because it is targeting too many young children and is one of the causes of childhood obesity.

Pessimistic Hyperglobalizers are the kind of people who argue that we are not coming together as a whole world and reflecting everyone cultures except merely becoming more and more Americanized and moving toward popular western cultures.

Optimistic Hyperglobalizers they agree with the people above but believe that it is a good thing instead. They believe that this can bring good outcomes and other worlds and cultures can learn good things from America.

multigenre component

For my SAP i think i am  going to make a movie  maker (or that cool xtranormal thing) and a poster. For my poster, I want to show and and explain my experiment. Show the pictures, questionnnaire, and data from my participants. For the movie maker, I want to show more pictures of the media and the way its affecting women and also maybe have a few statistics and quotes from my articles in there along with different songs that women singers have made in order to show their point and to not follow and fall to that. I think those 2 will be really helpful to explain my social action plan and paper.

1. The 3 racial differences that the author mentioned were racialization of state policy, economic detour, and racial inequality.
2. They interviewed white and black families to find out if about different wealth disparities.
3. The authors found that the main theme was
4. The authors states that for us to close the racial gap in terms of wealth we need to directly address the situations of African Americans. We should also promote asset opportunities for those at the bottom of the class system  regardless of ethnicity.
5.  My story in coming to college, is that is has been harder than i expected in many ways. There was the money in which i still have multiple loans in order to keep me here

classism discussion- social class questionnaire

I read a social questionnaire about one of my classmates, Kit, and the of the words she used most was lower middle class. She described that she feels she lives in a lower middle class but everything is okay with that. Her family has enough money to get by but not enough to feel secure and get other things that she wanted. She also felt that her family was hardworking and that what made was hard to hear about her class was hearing that they were worrying about money. However, she feels that she also still knows many people who may be lower in class than her and their lives are very different. She stated "their parents are divorced so the mom has to live on her welfare and also college is not something they care about as much as my family." They just have very different values and even though she is not in the highest class she is still happy with what she has.

article data & results

The participants were 94 female students from the age of 19-24.
The data section begins by explaining how many participants there are and explaining their BMI and the difference between high self-discrepant women and compared to low self-discrepant women.
It is organized in many ways. They have 3 different tables help showing results and also they break it into sections of different concerns. They give us the means and standard deviations of each of the experimental and control groups.
The themes are showing that the media does somewhat affect how women perceive themselves.
They use the p-value, and the means and SD in order to prove whether or not their study is statistically significant.
What stands out the most for me is that they are doing an experiemt which is what I see a lot in my major and also what I am doing for my data collection. Mine will not be as difficult as theres but I feel that mine will still get my point across.
I would give them an A. It was very thought out and they had all the information they needed written in an intelligent way.
