Methods

Participants & Materials

My study included the interviews of ten women. These women were all undergraduated at Illinois State University, and ranged from the ages of 19-21. I asked each of these women to sit down and rate their feelings of self esteem on a scale of 1-5 from 1= very bad about myself to 5= very good about myself. They rated their feelings, then sat down to continue on to view a powerpoint of a few pictures. These pictures included sexy women in alcohol ads, and also atheltic type ads with women in sports bras with thin bodies. After they viewed these ads, they were then asked to rate themselves again.
